Copyright & Takedown

Our position

Ycotes publishes study material that is either created by our own team, contributed by students with their permission, or in the public domain.

We do not knowingly host material that infringes anyone's copyright. If something has slipped through, we want to know — and we would rather remove it than argue about it.

How to send a takedown notice

Email team@theycotes.com with the subject line "Copyright Takedown" and include:

• The exact URL or URLs of the material on theycotes.com.
• A description of the copyrighted work you say has been infringed.
• Proof that you own the copyright, or authority to act for the owner.
• Your name, postal address, email and phone number.
• A statement that you believe in good faith the use is not authorised by the copyright owner or the law.
• A statement that the information in your notice is accurate.

What we do next

We acknowledge every notice within 3 working days. Where the claim is clear, we remove or disable the material immediately, before investigating further — a student can wait a day for a PDF; a rights holder should not have to wait for us to deliberate.

We then tell whoever submitted the material, and record the removal so it is not re-uploaded.

Counter-notice

If your material was removed and you believe that was a mistake, email team@theycotes.com with the URL, an explanation, and your contact details. We will review and restore it if the claim does not hold up.

Repeat infringers

Accounts that repeatedly upload infringing material are suspended.

For students uploading material

Only upload notes you wrote yourself. Do not upload scanned textbook chapters, your college's lecture slides, or another person's handwritten notes without their permission. If you are unsure whether you have the right to share something, you probably do not.
